After the casting lessons and fun at Waterbrook Winery we heard rumors of a “hummingbird haven”. We headed toward the hills and after meandering through fields of wheat, we found a house with a cute old man sitting outside watching people watch his birds.
The story is that his wife wanted a hummingbird feeder. He put one outside, then another and then another. More birds showed up, so they put our more feeders. His wife passed away, but he kept the feeders. He is 78 years old and pays a woman to clean and refill the feeders everyday. Tourists (like us) show up to watch, ask questions, and mostly take pictures.
The birds were pretty fearless and all of these pictures were taken with my iPhone. Pretty cool stuff.
