We took a quick 3 day trip out to Walla Walla to participate in the Waterbrook Winery Fly Fishing Festival. Day 1 was spent gathering rods, reels, and goodies and beginning the drive out to the eastern side of the Cascades. The first stop was Umtanum State Park. We landed a few small fish. They were all too eager to have sore lips, but didn’t pull line of the reel like we were hoping for.We had dinner in Yakima at Puerto Escondido on our way east. Tired and gassy, we stayed at the Pasco KOA. There were no other tents, but plenty of people looked liked they lived there and weren’t just passing through. Sleeping next to a major road combined with the sun coming up just after 5 am made for very little sleep, but plenty of time to get to Walla Walla the next day.
